About Mike Bullen
I’ve been teaching and working with English professionally across many disciplines and levels since graduating with a degree in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of East Anglia in 2011.
Working initially in the UK for several years as a professional copy editor, I then transitioned to English Language Teaching in Taiwan where I taught English to adult learners for seven years (mainly IELTS, TOEIC, and Professional/Business English). Now, I operate Codex English Limited in the UK, providing a wide range of flexible courses and dependable services to English learners around the world.
I specialise in IELTS Preparation, academic English (EAP), as well as in advanced speaking and discussion skills. My students often describe me as being supportive, diligent, patient, and encouraging (click here to read reviews from my students).

Publications
I am a co-author (along with May Lin and Kenneth Huang of English language institute Leeds Mayi in Taipei, Taiwan) of the IELTS Speaking preparation book “里茲螞蟻救急英文口說: 雅思、托福、演說、面試, 說話技巧應答對策!”
The book provides hundreds of example answers to IELTS Speaking Parts 1–3 questions in three distinctive styles, based around a key answer strategy for each Part of the Speaking test.
